2010 Mazda3 molded carpet kits now available!

Several months ago I started to receive what would amount to many, many emails, blog comments, PM’s and phone calls from owners of 2010 Mazda3’s asking us to create a molded carpet kit for their cars.  I have to admit, I was hesitant to create this kit.  The reason is that there is a lot of work and expense that comes into building the tooling to get a project like this off the ground.  Plus the work on getting the word out about the kits availability.  After thinking about it for a while,  I felt that I couldn’t ignore my fellow Mazda3 brothers & sisters.

If you have subscribed to my blog you have read my updates about the varying stages of development of the molded carpet kits for the 2010 Mazda 3’s. Well I am glad to finally be able to tell you, that these high-quality, cut-pile nylon Premium molded carpet kits for the 2010 Mazda3 is now available.

No more waiting, just visit our 2010 Mazda 3 Order Page scroll to the bottom of the page and click on the “Add to Cart” button and your 2010 Mazda3 Premium Molded Carpet Kit.

If you have any questions or comments feel free to post them below.

The RX-7 shall rise again!

11-mazda-rx-7Sounds like the legendary RX-7 will return.  Sources close to Mazda have confirmed that a proper 2 door, Rotary engined sports car wearing the famous badge will be popping up in Mazda showrooms in 2011 as a 2012 model year vehicle.

Why the sudden announcement you ask?  There was a management shake up earlier in 2009 and when the dust settled on April 10, 2009, Mr. Ikuo Maeda was announced as the Chief Designer for Mazda.  Mr. Maeda, has been quoted in many interviews as saying that he wants to see a new RX-7 built.  Mr. Maeda has been with Mazda since 1982 and resume includes the RX-8 and Mazda2 .

The new RX-7 will be powered by the new Renesis 16x, twin rotor, rotary engine that features a new direct injection fuel system and a lightweight aluminum side housing.  The new design is said to improve thermal energy and torque levels at all engine speeds, and reduce fuel consumption.

The Renesis 16x has been used already in a recent Mazda concept car and is capable of 350 hp, but will be tuned down to 200 – 250 hp inorder to maintain better fuel mileage.

Prices are slated to start at a very aggressive $25,000 USD.  This will make it a direct competitor with the Hyundai Genesis Coupe, the upcoming cousin rwd coupes from Toyota / Subaru.

I’m thinking, “only 25k, rwd, rotary engine, 250 hp….whom do I leave my deposit with?”

Dual Center Exhaust need feedback.

I have been toying with the idea of making my Mazda3 different than the norm without going all crazy and bizarre with my car.  What I want to do was to perform some mods that are clean, smooth, functional, beautiful and unique.

Some of you have read about the Type R red carpet kit that I have installed on my own car (I know, many of you have asked about making that kit available, I will soon But I am enjoying the novelty of being the only Mazda3 on the planet with the Red carpet) and I have added some other interior mods that are subtle but help to tie the whole package together.

But my next big project is creating a center exit exhaust for the first generation Mazda 3.   You can see from the quick sketch the rough idea that I have for making it happen.

I am fortunate for my ties to the automotive industry (in particular manufacturing) and have already started talking about getting this made for me.  I have already consulted my longtime friend Glenn @ Cam Tech Auto on the exhaust fabrication and it is a go from that perspective

But, I want to create either a carbon fiber or fiberglass rear valance section for the rear bumper to completely clean up the dual center exhaust tip installation.

What do you guys think?  Let me know, how would you do it differently?  If you have any sketches add links to your comments.
