Equal length headers for my Project Mazda3

If you have been a reader of this blog, you may have heard me mention Glenn Camilleri and Cam Tech Auto in Mississauga (just west of Toronto). Glenn has been a life long friend and cohort on all my project cars and trucks.

Some of Glenn’s bigger projects have included a Buick Grand National drivetrain stuffed into a slammed Chevy Blazer (complete with custom headers, turbo mount and down pipe he fabricated). Several supercharged Corvettes, SRT10 Dodge Ram, a 10 second street driven Thunderbird (that was built from scratch).

Currently, one major project he and his shop is taking on is a 1937 Ford Coupe riding on a full Air Ride suspension. A complete full build. Everything from the ground up, including custom equal-length ceramic coated stainless steel headers.

The reason for building the custom headers, he just didn’t like how the 2 sets of headers that he tried on the car looked and fitted (owner of this car is fortunate for hiring Glenn for this build).

When he sent me the above photo it got me thinking, how an equal length header would work on my 05 Mazda 3 (2.3 l)? Glenn suggests a turbo on the end of the header.

Now an entirely new conversation has started about performance upgrades for my car. What do you guys think? Should I go for the header?
