Autoguide has an article on the reveal of the 2014 Mazda 3. The new car is based on the Kodo design language used on the 2013 Mazda6 and CX-7, and it looks like a sweet ride.
Two SKYACTIV engines
Mazda will be offering two different SKYACTIV-G (G is for gasoline engine) for the North American market, including a base 2.0 with 150 horsepower and 150 lb-ft torque. There will be an optional 2.5 with 185 ponies and 184 ft-lb of torque.
i-ELOOP
The new Mazda will also have available an i-ELOOP, which is short for Intelligent Engine Loop, system for generating electricity when braking and storing this energy in a capacitor. Mazda claims that this is the first system of its type installed on a consumer car.
New Interior
The interior features a fold up screen on the top of the centre stack of the dash that will display navigation and engine information.
Additionally there’s a brand-new infotainment system that should interface more easily with modern smartphones. It can read and respond to text messages as well as e-mails. Bluetooth connectivity, an auxiliary jack and USB port are also available, though this is pretty standard fare these days.
What do you think of Mazda’s new effort?
